EDUCATION-BASED INITIATIVES
Empowering refugees through high-quality, hope-filled learning.
In a community where 84% of children (ages 13–17) are not in any type of school, education remains perhaps the greatest need for refugees in Kuala Lumpur. Kingdom Refugee Care addresses this gap by providing accessible, high-quality learning opportunities that give refugees the tools to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
Garden City Learning CenterThe Garden City Learning Center is KRC's most ambitious initiative. It aims to provide young refugees (ages 16-23) with a high-quality, American-based education, resulting in a GED certificate (i.e., American high school diploma). Students from all communities and faith backgrounds are welcom at GCLC. Students who complete the GED diploma program become eligible for a year-long teacher training program, called the Mentor Program. |
COMMUNITY-BASED INITIATIVES
Loving our neighbors through faithful presence and practical help.
KRC's community programs bring our mission outside the walls of the Hub and into the greater refugee community of KL. Our Outreach Programs aim to reflect Christ’s love in word and deed—so that refugees may know they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.
Mobile Health ScreeningsKRC partners with refugee health professionals to provide free, comprehensive health screenings for the refugee community in Kuala Lumpur. These events offer basic medical, dental, and vision checks—led by refugee doctors and dentists themselves. It’s a powerful example of refugees helping refugees: health professionals use their skills to serve their community (and receive a small stipend), displaced families gain access to quality care, and KRC volunteers build meaningful connections. KRC also provides free follow-up care for many participants, ensuring long-term impact beyond the screening day. |
FAITH-BASED INITIATIVES
Bringing hope and truth through presence, prayer, and proclamation.
KRC believes that people flourish when their whole selves—body, mind, and soul—are cared for. Our faith-based programs nurture spiritual growth by inviting refugees into a deeper relationship with Christ—so they can experience lasting hope, healing, and purpose in every area of life.
Mobile ChurchKuala Lumpur is home to one of the largest concentrations of persecuted Christians in the world. If refugee believers can’t get to church, KRC is committed to bringing church to them. Our first Mobile Church is at the Peace Education Centre (TPEC), where over 50 refugee children from Myanmar’s Chin State live. In partnership with Garden City Church, we bring Sunday worship, lunch, and games to TPEC as often as possible—creating a space for joy, fellowship, and the hope of Christ. |
Kingdom VBS CampThe Kingdom VBS Camp is the largest refugee-focused VBS in the world. In partnership with local and global churches, KRC welcomes over 200 children (ages 6–11) from refugee communities across Kuala Lumpur for a vibrant, three-day event. KRC provides free transportation and meals, while our partner churches bring the curriculum, energy, and unforgettable memories. It’s not only a chance to serve the nations—but to serve with them, side by side in the work of the Kingdom. |
Christmas with KRCEach Christmas season, KRC partners with the Pakistani community to host a joyful celebration for refugees of all backgrounds. This annual event reflects the unity and diversity of Kuala Lumpur’s refugee community. Through food, music, games, and small gifts for each child, we aim to create a space of joy, belonging, and hope during what can be a difficult season for many displaced families. As refugees from various faiths gather, they glimpse the peace and welcome the gospel offers. |
